The “Dutch surprise assault on Coevorden”

Was a crucial turning point for the Dutch Republic in the Franco-Dutch wars.

This assault took place on December 30,1672 and was led by the Dutch general Carl von Rabenhaupt. The town of Coevorden under control of the French, had a strategic importance.
