PWHL Ottawa is a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded on August 29, 2023, it is one of the six original franchises of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL).[1] Ottawa plays its home games at TD Place Arena. 29 different players have worn the PWHL Ottawa jersey as of the end of the 2023–24 season; of them, 2 are goaltenders, while 27 are skaters.
The first goal in franchise history was scored by Hayley Scamurra in Ottawa's inaugural game against PWHL Montreal on January 2, 2024.[2] The franchise's first win came eleven days later, as goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer backstopped the team to a 5-1 victory over PWHL Toronto on January 13, 2024.[3] Maschmeyer posted the franchise's first shutout on March 21, 2024, a 26-save performance to propel the team to a 3-0 win over PWHL New York.
