Dr. Mahgul M. Ali (June 24, 1936 - February 9, 2014; born in Kabul) was an Afghan-American physician, recognized as the first female doctor in Afghanistan.[1] She pursued her medical education in Pakistan and the United States, overcoming significant social and financial obstacles. She specialized in obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) and anesthesiology, and practiced medicine in both Afghanistan (1957-58; 1960-63), and the United States (1958-1960; 1963-2013).[2]
