Neill Herbert Alford Jr was an American professor, author, legal scholar, and World War Two veteran. He served as a Professor of Law at the University of Virginia.[1] [2]
A distinguished legal scholar, Alford was a Professor of Law at the University of Virginia, eventually authoring the books Modern Economic Warfare: Law and the Naval Participant and co-authoring Cases and Materials on Decedents Estates and Trusts, the latter still a widely-used law book.[2] He also wrote many journal articles and book reviews.[3]
He also held many other academic positions, including the Chair of International Law at the U.S. Naval War College; Lehman distinguished visiting professor of law at Washington University (St. Louis) in 1991; and a summer law teacher at George Washington University, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Alabama, just to name a few.
He died on October 20, 2007, in Charlottesville, Virginia, at the age of 88.
