Draft:Pivotal Helix

The Helix being flown in July 2024.

The Pivotal Helix is an ultralight EVTOL aircraft intended for short-hop travel and recreational use. Pivotal publicly revealed the Helix in late 2023 and has stated its intention to start delivering finished aircraft to customers in mid-2025. The Helix is Pivotal's successor to its BlackFly aircraft, which it had sold to a number of selected early-access customers in 2023 and 2024; Pivotal intends for this successor to be widely available to the general public.

Pivotal has remarked that the Helix will incorporate features based on BlackFly customer feedback. Though the Helix shares the same aerodynamic design as the BlackFly, the former has "higher performance, greater ease of flight, and enhanced dependability" over the latter. Since the Helix is classified by the FAA as a Part 103 Ultralight, no pilot's license is required to fly it. Pivotal currently is currently taking refundable deposits of $9,000 for the Helix, which it currently prices at $190,000.
