Tarek Suleiman (born May 12, 1989, in Jableh, Syria) is a professional mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner known for his contributions to the sport and his significant presence in the Middle East’s MMA scene. Suleiman is highly respected among his peers and enjoys a large fan base, particularly in the United Arab Emirates. Despite his success, he has not yet signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), making him one of the most well-known Arab fighters outside the premier organization.

Early Life and Education

Tarek Suleiman was born and raised in Jableh, Syria. He pursued higher education at the American University of Beirut from 2008 to 2013, where he studied agribusiness and won an award for “Innovation of the Year” for his project “Go Green Live Green.”

Mixed Martial Arts Career

Suleiman began his professional MMA career after moving to Thailand in 2013, where he trained at Tiger Muay Thai until 2020. His significant achievements include winning the UAE Warriors Light Heavyweight Championship by knocking out Oli Thompson in 2019. Suleiman made headlines for his grappling prowess, which was showcased in various competitions, including a notable match against Marvin Vettori in October 2023 at ADXC 1, where many believed he won despite the judges’ decision favoring Vettori.
