Economy of Greater Sudbury

The economy of Greater Sudbury, Ontario was dominated by the mining industry for much of the city's history.[1] In recent decades, however, the city has diversified to establish itself as an emerging centre in a variety of industries, including finance, business, tourism, health care, education, government, film and television production, and science and technology research.[2] Many of these industries reflect the city's position as a regional service centre for Northeastern Ontario.[3]

The city's economy and politics have also been strongly influenced by a history of labour unionism.[1]
