Ellen Lanyon (December 21, 1926 – October 7, 2013) was a painter and printmaker from Chicago, Illinois.[1] She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC),[2] her MFA from the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History[3] and studied restoration at the Courtauld Institute of Art.[4] She also received an honorary doctorate from SAIC.[2] Her works are in the permanent collections of many major American museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Ulrich Museum.[4]
