Energy in Australia is the production in Australia of energy and electricity, for consumption or export. Energy policy of Australia describes the politics of Australia as it relates to energy.
In 2021, Australia was a net exporter of energy commodities, with notable exports in liquefied natural gas (LNG), coal, and minerals.[1]
Energy in Australia is sourced largely from coal and natural gas,[2] however, recently, due to the increasing effects of global warming and human-induced climate change on the global environment, there has been a shift towards renewable energy such as solar power and wind power both in Australia and abroad.[3][4] In 2022, renewable energy accounted for 35.9% of the total amount of electricity generated in Australia.[5]
