Eoaves is an obsolete infraclass of birds, consisting of Palaeognathae and Galloanserae. It is now considered to be paraphyletic, as Galloanserae is now considered the sister clade of Neoaves, forming Neognathae. It was first used in the Sibley-Ahlquist taxonomy of birds, hence its author citation is Sibley et al. 1988 [1]. Note that Palaeognathae was called Ratitae, but it included tinamous and was monophyletic.
