Faruk-e-Azam is a member of the advisory council of the Bangladesh Interim Government.[2] He actively took part in the Bangladesh Liberation War and later awarded Bir Protik gallantry award by the Government of Bangladesh. He was a naval commando and a deputy commander of Operation Jackpot.[3]
