Filipinology

In general, Filipinology or Philippineology (Spanish: Filipinología, Tagalog: Pilipinolohiya) or more formally known as Philippine studies refers to: "the study of the Philippines and its people".[1]

It encompasses the study of Philippine history,[2] Philippine culture, Philippine languages, Philippine society, Philippine life, Philippine psyche or Philippine psychology,[3] Philippine politics, and Philippine government.[2] The approaches or perspectives of Philippine Studies could be theoretical, interdisciplinary, comparative, transnational, and global.[4] Filipinology was developed in the University of the Philippines Diliman[5] and had become part of curricula in some colleges and universities inside and outside the Philippines.
