Filmation Associates was an American production company founded by Lou Scheimer, Hal Sutherland and Norm Prescott in 1962,[3] before closing by Group W Productions on February 3, 1989.[4] Located in Reseda, California, Filmation produced animated and live-action productions.

In 1966, The New Adventures of Superman debuted, then The Archie Show, Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, the animated version of Star Trek, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Ghostbusters and BraveStarr followed. As of now, DreamWorks Animation, through DreamWorks Classics, own all of the company's library (except third-party licensed properties).
