Galactomyces reessii is a fungus, specifically a type of yeast, belonging to the genus Galactomyces. G. reessii lives in soil and reproduces sexually and asexually.[1]G. reessii contains enzymes that have diverse capabilities including the abilities to dissolve pectin,[2] convert 3-methylcrotonic acid to 3-hydroxy-3-methylbutyric acid,[3] and remove phenol.[4]
