GayBelarus - LGBT Human Rights Project

The Belarusian LGBT Human Rights Project GayBelarus is a national youth civic association.^[1] They operate the Jáhada (Belarusian: Ягада, literally Berry) positive queer infoportal (пазітыўны квір. інфапартал).

The association was founded on 18 January 2009^[2] with the goal of providing necessary aid and support for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgender people (hereinafter called LGBT) and their families and friends.

Annually,^[3][4][5] "GayBelarus" carries out the human rights forum "Minsk Pride" ,^[6] national LGBT conferences,^[7][8] regularly reports to international organisations on the state of LGBT issues in Belarus,^[9][10][11] submits information for the alternative Universal Periodic Review at UN,^[12] and initiates strategic litigations concerning violation of human rights of LGBT people.^{[13][14][15][16]}

The organization has branches in all regions of the Republic of Belarus: Brest Region,^[17] Hrodna Region,^[18] Homel Region,^[19] Vitebsk Region,^[20] Mogilev Region and Minsk Region.

The organization also supports cultural activities, arranges film shows,^[21] LGBT party,^[22][23] roundtables to discuss current and strategic issues,^[24][25] and other consolidation activities.^[26] In addition, the organization provides legal assistance ^[27] and psychological care,^[28] for members of the LGBT community.
