Genoa (/əˈn.ə/ jə-NOH)[4] is an unincorporated town in Douglas County, Nevada, United States.[5] Founded in 1851,[6] it was the first settlement in what became the Nevada Territory (1861-1864). It is situated within Carson River Valley and is approximately 42 miles (68 km) south of Reno.[7] The population was 939 at the 2010 census.[8] It is home to the oldest bar in the state of Nevada which opened in 1853.[9]
