Geoffrey Derrick Wright (1 March 1930 – 2011) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward in the Football League for Walsall.[1] He was on the books of Sheffield Wednesday,[2] Aston Villa and Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic without playing league football for any of them,[1] and also appeared for Rugby Town, Nuneaton Borough and Hinckley Athletic.[3][4][5]
His father, Steve Wright, played league football for Bolton Wanderers, Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion in the 1920s.[6][7] Wright died in Leicester in 2011, at the age of 81.[8]
The Town have signed Geoff Wright (24), inside forward, who was one of their players in the season 1951–52, when he was transferred to Walsall for £250. Last season he assisted Nuneaton Borough. His father is Steve Wright, the ex-Bolton player.
