George Heriot (1759 – 22 July 1839)[1] was a Scots-Canadian civil servant, author and artist. He is most notable as a major figure in early Canadian art.
^Note that some reference works give him as born in 1766 and dying in 1844; this is directly contradicted by modern sources, and it is probable that this is due to confusion with his cousin Frederick George Heriot - LaBrèque, 2000, notes the converse is a commonly encountered problem.
