George Walker Weld (1840–1905), youngest son of William Fletcher Weld and member of the Weld Family of Boston, was a founding member of the Boston Athletic Association, which is the organizer of the present-day Boston Marathon, and the financier of the Weld Boathouse, a landmark on the Charles River.[1]

  1. ^ Note that Weld Boathouse is one of two important buildings at Harvard that bear the Weld name. The other, Weld Hall, is named for Stephen Minot Weld, the uncle of the Weld discussed in this article.
