Global Communities is a global development organization that has grown to reach over 35 countries per year. The non-profit organization was founded in 1952 as the Cooperative Housing Foundation and provided affordable housing for low-income families in rural and urban America. In April 2020, Global Communities and PCI announced a merger to form one organization based on shared missions and complementary areas of technical expertise and geographic reach.[1] Today, Global Communities, works in humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and financial inclusion and provides programs in the areas of economic development; micro, small and medium enterprise (SME) and housing finance; governance and urban development; construction and infrastructure; civil society and municipal development; positive youth development; climate action and resilience building; global health and emergency response.[2]
In 2012, the organization changed its name to Global Communities.[1]
