Hemiarius verrucosus, the shovelnose sea catfish,[2] is a species of catfish in the family Ariidae.[3] It was described by Heok Hee Ng in 2003, originally under the genus Arius.[1] It inhabits rivers and estuaries in Laos and Thailand, including the Mekong, Bang Pakong and Chao Phraya Rivers. It reaches a maximum total length of 80 cm (31 in).[3] Its diet includes finfish[4] and shellfish.[3]
