Hilliard P. Dorsey (c. 1820 – September 6, 1858) was an officer of the Mississippi volunteer soldiers of the Mexican–American War, U.S. federal land agent, vigilante, duellist, and, briefly, owner of the Rancho Aguaje de la Centinela in California. In 1858, Dorsey was shot and killed by his father-in-law while Dorsey was trying to enter the home where his 18-year-old wife had sought shelter after leaving her abusive partner.
