Hong Gil-dong (Korean: 홍길동; Hanja: 洪吉同; c. 1440–1510?) was a Korean outlaw from the Joseon period.[1] He was the leader of a group of bandits during the reign of King Yeonsangun of Joseon.[2]
The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty and a few other documents briefly mention his activities.,[3] It is said that he lived in Chungcheong Province.
