Hong Sook-ja (Korean홍숙자; born June 25, 1933) is a South Korean activist, politician, and writer. She was appointed South Korea's first female diplomat and later became the first female presidential candidate to enter the electoral foray, having done so in South Korea's first democratic elections in 1987.[1]
