I Hired a Contract Killer is a film directed, produced and written by the Finnish auteur Aki Kaurismäki in 1990. It is a Finnish-British-German-Swedish co-production and stars the renowned French actor Jean-Pierre Léaud. The film also features a cameo appearance by Joe Strummer as a guitar player.[4]
The film's plot device of a man arranging for an assassin to kill him but later attempting to call off the deal is also used in the more famous 1998 American film Bulworth.[5]
