Ilorin is the capital city of Kwara State located in the North-central region of Nigeria, although dominated by the Yorubas, it is classified as North-central state due to its emirate system of traditional rule.[2] Ilorin is a Yoruba town by all historical and sociological standards[3]. As of the 2006 census, it had a population of 777,667, making it the 7th largest city by population in Nigeria.[4]
