Jacob Green Jackson

American Lumbermen (1906)

Jacob Green Jackson (March 16, 1817 – April 17, 1901) was an American lumberman of Colonial New England ancestry who came to California in 1851. He was one of the first to recognize the vast wealth in the redwood forests and was among the earliest to make a successful business of logging.[1] Jackson founded Caspar Lumber Company in Mendocino County. Jackson Demonstration State Forest is named in his honor.
