James Lutz (born March 31, 1998)[ 1] is an American compound archer . He became world champion in the men's individual compound event at the 2019 World Archery Championships held in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.[ 1] [ 2] He is the fifth compound archer from the United States to become world champion in this event.[ 2] [ 3] In the final, he defeated Anders Faugstad of Norway.[ 2]
In 2020, he finished in 26th place in the men's compound event at The Vegas Shoot held in Las Vegas, United States.[ 4]
In 2021, Lutz won the gold medal in the men's team event at the World Archery Championships held in Yankton, United States.[ 5] [ 6] He also competed in the men's individual compound and mixed team events.[ 6]
Lutz represented the United States at the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, Alabama, United States.[ 7] [ 8] He competed in the men's individual compound event.[ 8] He won two medals at the 2022 Pan American Archery Championships held in Santiago, Chile: the gold medal in the men's team event and the bronze medal in the mixed team event.[ 9]
