Jay Pierrepont "Peter" Moffat Jr. (January 17, 1932 – October 23, 2020)[1] was an American diplomat. He served as the United States Ambassador to Chad from 1983 to 1985. He was the first ambassador to the newly reopened U.S. Embassy in N'Djamena. He was a member of the Butler-Belmont family.[2][3]
