Jean-Louis Anne Madelain Lefebvre de Cheverus (also known as John Cheverus; January 28, 1768 – July 19, 1836) was a French-born Catholic prelate who served as the first Bishop of Boston. He later served as Bishop of Montauban and Archbishop of Bordeaux, both in France.[1] He was elevated to the cardinalate in 1836.
