John Plumtree is a New Zealand professional rugby union coach and former first class provincial rugby player.

He was previously the head coach for the Hurricanes and the Sharks, which competes in the Super Rugby and Currie Cup competitions.

As a player Plumtree won two Currie Cup medals with the Sharks (1990, 1996); and as a coach he guided the Sharks to Currie Cup wins in 2008,2010 and 2024 [1]
