Kadhal Kottai (transl. The Castle of Love) is a 1996 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Agathiyan, and produced by Sivasakthi Movie Makers. The film stars Ajith Kumar and Devayani, with Heera, Thalaivaasal Vijay, and Karan in supporting roles. It revolves around two people who develop a romance anonymously.
Kadhal Kottai was released on 12 July 1996 and ran for over 250 days at the box office, becoming a silver-jubilee film.[1] The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, the National Film Award for Best Direction as well as the National Film Award for Best Screenplay for Agathiyan. It was remade in Kannada as Yaare Neenu Cheluve, in Hindi as Sirf Tum by the same director, and in Bengali as Hothat Brishti.
