Karen Erika Donfried[1] is an American foreign policy expert who previously served as the assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs.[2] The State Department announced in March 2023 that Donfried would be stepping down from her post at the end of the month.[3] She also served as president of the German Marshall Fund from April 2014 to September 2021.[4]
