Karl Heinrich Ulrichs (28 August 1825 – 14 July 1895) was a German lawyer, jurist, journalist, and writer. He is today regarded[by whom?] as a pioneer of sexology[1] and the modern gay rights movement. Ulrichs has been described as the "first gay man in world history",[2][3] despite the fact that homosexuality was recorded since c. 9,600 BCE.[4][5]
