Karuah is a locality[3] in both the Port Stephens and Mid-Coast Councils, the Port Stephens lga side is part the Hunter Region while the Mid-Coast lga is in the Mid North Coast region of New South Wales, Australia.[4][6] It is thought that the name means 'native plum tree' in the local Aboriginal dialect.[4][7]
