Katangsky District (Russian: Катангский райо́н) is an administrative district, one of the thirty-three in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia.[1] Municipally, it is incorporated as Katangsky Municipal District.[6] The area of the district is 139,043 square kilometers (53,685 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Yerbogachen.[2] Population: 3,779 (2010 Census);[4] 4,579 (2002 Census);[8] 9,330 (1989 Soviet census).[9] The population of Yerbogachen accounts for 52.0% of the district's total population.[4]
