Kevin Eugene Hartman (born May 25, 1974) is an American former soccer player who played 17 seasons in Major League Soccer, being on the field for a record 37,260 minutes.[1] Nicknamed El Gato (Spanish for "the cat") because of his agility, reflexes, physical qualities, and shot-stopping ability,[2][3][4] Hartman has more saves than any other goalkeeper in MLS history,[5] and was the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 1999.[6] Considered to be one of the greatest and most successful goalkeepers in MLS history,[2][7] he was also known for his longevity.[3]
