Khag is a tehsil in and block in the Beerwah sub-district of the Budgam district in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is 8.8 km (5.5 mi) away from sub-district headquarter Beerwah and 35 km (22 mi) away from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.[3]
Khag is renowned for its hot springs. According to locals[who?], there are as many as thirty-five individual springs in Khag. Ancient people called it the "Garden of Paradise".[citation needed]
Before 2008, Khag was one of the blocks of Beerwah tehsil. After the government of Jammu and Kashmir created new administrative units in 2008, Khag was granted tehsil status.
