A knez or kenez (Romanian: cnez/cneaz or chinez; Hungarian: kenéz; Latin: kenezius, Serbian: кнез) was a leader of the Vlach (Romanian) communities in the Kingdom of Hungary and western Balkans, during the Middle Ages.
