Kranj (pronounced [ˈkɾàːn] , German: Krainburg[3]) is the fourth-largest city in Slovenia and the largest town and urban center of the traditional region of Upper Carniola (northwestern Slovenia) and the Slovene Alps. It is located approximately 20 kilometres (12 miles) northwest of the national capital Ljubljana, acting as the seat of the City Municipality of Kranj.
