Lake Como is a borough located in the Jersey Shore region, within Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 1,697,[8] a decrease of 62 (−3.5%) from the 2010 census count of 1,759,[16][17] which in turn reflected a decline of 47 (−2.6%) from the 1,806 counted in the 2000 census.[18] It is the tenth-smallest municipality by land area in New Jersey.[19]

Lake Como was originally formed as the borough of South Belmar by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on March 12, 1924, from portions of Wall Township, subject to the results of a referendum held on May 6, 1924.[20] On November 2, 2004, voters in the borough approved changing the locality's name to Lake Como, which became effective as of January 4, 2005.[21]
