A molecular phylogenetic study in 2020 showed that as then circumscribed Boronia was polyphyletic, and species were moved to other genera, mainly Cyanothamnus.[1] The split was accepted in a 2021 classification of the family Rutaceae.[2] The following list shows the species accepted by Plants of the World Online, as of September 2021[update].[3]
