The avifauna of Switzerland included a total of 439 species as of 2022 according to the Swiss Ornithological Institute (Schweizerische Vogelwarte) with supplemental additions from Avibase.[1] 10 have been introduced by humans.

The following tags have been used to highlight several categories. The commonly occurring native species do not fall into any of these categories.

  • (A) Accidental - a species that rarely or accidentally occurs in Switzerland
  • (I) Introduced - a species introduced to Switzerland as a consequence, direct or indirect, of human actions
  • (D) Reasonable doubt - Species for which "there is reasonable doubt that they have ever occurred in a natural state"
