María del Carmen Bousada de Lara (5 January 1940 – 11 July 2009[1]) was a Spanish woman who gained worldwide attention when, at the age of 66,[2] she became the world's oldest mother on 29[2] or 30[3] December 2006, when she gave birth to twins.[2] She later became an outspoken advocate for the rights of older mothers and a subject of considerable controversy.[4]
