Mariam Baouardy, OCD (Arabic: مريم بواردي, or Mary of Jesus Crucified, 5 January 1846 – 26 August 1878), was a Discalced Carmelite nun of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. Born to Palestinian parents from the town of Hurfiesh in the upper Galilee,[1] later moved to I’billin, she was known for her service to the poor. In addition, she became a Christian mystic who suffered the stigmata.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 13 November 1983 and canonized on 17 May 2015 by Pope Francis.
