Markus Pernhart (born July 28, 1824, in Untermieger (or according to the Slovenian Biographical Lexicon in Obermieger,[1] today part of the market town of Ebenthal); died on March 30, 1871, in Klagenfurt; with his name also written: Markus or Marko Pernat or Pernath) was a Carinthian Slovenian / Austrian painter of romantic landscape impressions, considered to have been a pioneer in this style in Austria.[2] According to the Slovenian Biographical Lexicon, he is considered to be the first Slovenian realistic landscape painter.[3][4]
