Maxim is an unincorporated community located within Howell Township in Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.[2] The area, just southwest of the Squankum takes its name from the Maxim Powder Company and its founder, Hudson Maxim,[3] who developed a plant there in 1890.[4]
Another munitions operation in Howell Township was the Maxim Powder Company, located just southwest of the Squankum area, which was founded by Hudson Maxim (MWMA, 1999). The Maxim area of Howell is named after this inventor and entrepreneur.
