Medvedevsky District (Russian: Медве́девский райо́н; Meadow Mari: Маскасола кундем, Maskasola kundem) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the fourteen in the Mari El Republic, Russia. It is located in the central and northern parts of the republic. The area of the district is 2,800 square kilometers (1,100 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the urban locality (an urban-type settlement) of Medvedevo.[2] As of the 2010 Census, the total population of the district was 67,703, with the population of Medvedevo accounting for 24.9% of that number.[4]
