Melattur is a panchayat town in Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located 18 kilometres from the town of Thanjavur.[1] It is the origin of the Melattur style of Bharatanatyam founded by Mangudi Dorairaja Iyer[2] and a series of dance-drama performances called the Bhagavatha Melas.[3]
