Meteg (or meseg or metheg, Hebrew: מֶתֶג, lit. 'bridle', also gaʿya גַּעְיָה, lit. 'bellowing', מַאֲרִיךְ maʾarikh, or מַעֲמִיד maʿamid) is a punctuation mark used in Biblical Hebrew for stress marking. It is a vertical bar placed under the affected syllable.
